Here's a summary of the improvements they made. Front Entry and Exterior: The redesign likely aimed to make the building more inviting and visually appealing to potential tenants. This could involve architectural changes, landscaping, and lighting to increase the building's presence and curb appeal. Main Lobby, Cross Atrium, and Third Level Lobby: Renovations to these areas likely involved upgrades to finishes, layout improvements, and possibly the addition of amenities to create attractive communal spaces for tenants and visitors. Public Spaces: Enhancing public spaces within the building can make it more appealing to prospective tenants. This might involve creating lounge areas, meeting spaces, or other amenities that add value to the building. Restrooms: Remodeling the restrooms is a common improvement in commercial properties, as it can enhance comfort and modernize the facilities. Fitness Center: The addition of a fitness center is a desirable amenity for many tenants. By designing it with enhanced connections to the adjacent garage, Ziegler Cooper likely aimed to make it convenient and accessible for tenants. This layout encourages communication and teamwork across different property disciplines. Gibbs & Bruns LLP Office Renovation Houston Law Firm Gibbs & Bruns LLP, a nationally regarded law practice, decided to completely renovate the space they had occupied for twenty-five years, rather than relocate to another building. This posed significant challenges from both a design and build perspective. Tellepsen Interiors designers were constrained by challenging existing conditions and had to create an execution plan that allowed the firm to work while demolition and construction were underway. As you will see, they met the challenge, collaborating with Tellepsen Interiors, Sigma Marble, Robert Shaw Manufacturing, IA Naman, and others. The architecture and design firm Rottet Studio sought to make the experience for the users of space, and their visitors, a unique environment with an updated look and feel, but with the directive that they could not materially touch certain conference areas and other space that has been recently updated and instead would need to integrate that into their design scheme. - Photography for Architects by Martine Hamilton Knight
"Photography for Architects" by Martine Hamilton Knight, a seasoned architectural photographer, emphasizes the importance of curated, high-quality photography in architecture's visual marketing strategies amidst the overwhelming digital noise. < Back 1 Click here to log in and like Previous Next Source: Updated: Books and Periodicals November 25, 2024 Photography for Architects by Martine Hamilton Knight "Photography for Architects" by Martine Hamilton Knight, a seasoned architectural photographer, emphasizes the importance of curated, high-quality photography in architecture's visual marketing strategies amidst the overwhelming digital noise. From the foreword: We live in a world driven by images, but with so much visual noise, is anyone really looking? How does an architect ensure their portfolio is within view of the right audience? Photographs are still as vital to architectural practice as they ever were. However, creation and circulation, once in the hands of skilled professionals, is now perceived as being ‘free’ and within easy reach of all. But where is the clarity? What is the message? By setting out the case for curated image making, considered photography may again be placed at the centre of architectural marketing strategies. Photography for Architects guides the reader through various topics: from establishing a visual brand and sharing images online, to producing content in house and commissioning professionals. It explores the still and moving image, creating books and exhibitions for legacy value, compiling award entries, and engaging with trade press. Little understood aspects regarding legal rights and obligations, ethics, copyright, and licensing images for use are discussed in clear language. Multiple photographic examples and conversations with international practitioners highlight the various themes throughout. Written by a working architectural photographer whose life has been spent in commercial practice, this easy-to-read, richly illustrated guide is essential reading for architects and designers alike who are working with images and image makers. Martine Hamilton Knight DLitt (Hon), FHEA is a professional architectural photographer with over three decades of industry experience. Her images are published worldwide in books, journals, and have been the subject of several exhibitions, most recently with her photographs for Sir Nikolaus Pevsner’s Buildings of England series of guidebooks. Awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Nottingham in 2012 in recognition of her photographic work, the last ten years have seen Martine’s practice widen to encompass speaking and teaching. She has run professional development seminars for a number of organisations across the UK including the Royal Institute of British Architects and hosts regular workshops for The Royal Photographic Society. A senior lecturer on the BA and MA courses at Nottingham Trent University, Martine continues to shoot commercially and also offers a consultancy for practices seeking advice on photographic procurement and management. - Evolution of the Legal Workplace
Explore how the legal industry is adapting post-pandemic, with a focus on creating flexible, efficient, and culturally enriching workspaces that balance individual and collaborative work, while embracing hybrid work models. < Back 0 Click here to log in and like Previous Next Source: Updated: Gensler - Research & Insight January 25, 2024 Evolution of the Legal Workplace Explore how the legal industry is adapting post-pandemic, with a focus on creating flexible, efficient, and culturally enriching workspaces that balance individual and collaborative work, while embracing hybrid work models. Barbara Dunn's article of July 5, 2023 entitled "Evolution of the Legal Workplace," published in the American Bar Association's Law Practice Magazine, highlights the changing dynamics of workspace design in the legal industry post-pandemic. The pandemic accelerated the shift towards flexible work environments, with law firms restructuring leases to reduce space and adapt to varying attendance requirements. As a result, firms have experienced a reduction in square footage with a focus on promoting collaboration, productivity, and cultural impact within these spaces. While firms are keen to have employees return to the office, the emphasis has shifted from mere physical presence to creating workspaces that foster learning, career development, and a mix of work environments that cater to individual preferences and well-being. Law firms are now recognizing the importance of balancing individual focused work and collaborative settings, with a shift towards smaller, universal-sized offices and shared spaces that encourage connection. Additionally, there's a trend towards creating office environments that resemble residential comfort with elements of hospitality-design, supporting casual interactions and building a stronger firm culture. The piece underscores the importance of managing real estate efficiently, considering hybrid schedules, and creating a workplace that’s appealing and inclusive, reinforcing the value of in-person collaboration and socializing within the firm. A single piece of advice from an investor helped Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky grow his company from a struggling startup to an industry giant worth roughly $70 billion. < Back 0 Click here to log in and like Previous Next Source: Updated: CNBC May 26, 2023 Airbnb CEO shares the best advice he's ever received—it's 'counterintuitive to almost everything everyone says’ A single piece of advice from an investor helped Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky grow his company from a struggling startup to an industry giant worth roughly $70 billion. In this article by Megan Sauer of CNBC, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky attributes the success of his company to advice from investor Paul Graham: "Focus on 100 people that love you, rather than getting a million people to kind of like you." This counterintuitive strategy helped Airbnb stand out by creating exceptional experiences for a small group of loyal customers, leading to rapid growth through word-of-mouth marketing. Chesky also believes that location is not crucial for success, as Airbnb remains based in San Francisco despite the exodus of tech companies from Silicon Valley. Chesky has embraced the idea of remote work, emphasizing the flexibility it offers. He criticized CEOs who called employees back to the office while they enjoyed personal vacations. This perspective aligns with Airbnb's concept of staying in someone else's home and reflects the changing attitudes toward remote work in the post-pandemic era.
