Method Architecture (Headquarters) - Houston, TX Location: 2339 Commerce St., Houston, TX 77002 Project Size : 25,549 Square Feet Building Categories: Office Building Industries: Coworking Project Scope: Interiors Project Role: Architect Collaborators: Collaborators Collaborators Collaborators Edit Project 2135c4af-e08e-4dbb-8494-fb88512af3d8 Common Desk East End Designed by Method Architecture, Common Desk East End is a 25,549 square foot co-working office space located in East Downtown Houston. Common Desk East End occupies within Ancorian's The Block, a revitalized warehouse in Houston's East End. This vibrant co-working space seamlessly blends industrial charm with modern amenities, featuring private offices, team suites, open desks, conference facilities, an inviting outdoor patio, a cozy indoor sunroom, and an in-house coffee bar. Method Architecture collaborated with the project team, which included Course Construction Group, Dally & Associates, KCI Technologies and Common Desk. Drawing inspiration from Houston's eclectic architectural landscape, particularly in the East End, the design concept embraces the area's diverse building styles. Throughout the space, you'll find a playful mix of office and conference room designs, each reminiscent of local eateries and serving as distinctive wayfinding elements. Unexpected bursts of color, textures, and patterns add personality, from a mosaic-tiled hospitality bar to vibrantly painted structural beams and eye-catching wallcoverings on the restroom ceilings. Complementing the modern furniture are carefully curated vintage pieces, lending an air of authenticity to the environment. To foster organic division within the communal areas, Method Architecture integrated a shelving and slat system, creating cozy lounge pockets between the hospitality bar and break room. Cost-effective color-blocking techniques were employed to delineate spaces while preserving the spacious, warehouse ambiance, utilizing contrasting portions of the concrete floors and walls. Innovative solutions were devised to maximize natural light penetration into the deep floor plan. A former loading dock was transformed into an inviting exterior patio adjacent to the break room, ideal for hosting large events. Skylights strategically placed along the main office corridor flood the space with daylight. At the terminus of the two primary corridors lies a captivating "terrarium" oasis, encircled by wood-framed fluted polycarbonate partitions, evoking a serene outdoor garden ambiance.

However, if there’s one weakness of the iPhone cameras – it’s the ability to shoot with manual controls. So, if you’re a pro shooter, you need to check out these best manual camera apps for iPhone. The article, by Ashish Mundhra and updated by Sumukh Rao for Guiding Tech, introduces five manual camera apps for iPhone that provide users with greater control over their photography. With limitations to the stock iPhone camera app, the author suggests these alternatives for professional photographers or those seeking creative control. They include: Halide: Considered one of the best manual camera apps, Halide offers features like manual focus, ISO and shutter speed adjustments, histogram, focus peeking, and bokeh mode. It supports shooting in RAW or HEIC formats and works with all rear and front-facing lenses. Shutter: This free manual camera app provides basic controls such as ISO and shutter speed adjustments, but lacks granular control or numeric indicators. Despite its simplicity, it offers a comprehensive set of features for manual photography, making it a suitable option for those who don't want to spend money on an app. Varlens: Similar to Halide in terms of controls, Varlens provides a more beginner-friendly interface and allows some features to be used without a subscription. However, to access full manual control over parameters, a Pro version subscription is required. It includes a useful light trail mode for capturing nighttime landscapes with vehicle movement. Yamera: Yamera is a freemium manual camera app that offers granular controls for free but displays ads. The free version provides functionality like focus distance adjustment, exposure control, shutter speed adjustment, and preset scene modes. The Pro version unlocks features such as RAW image capture and watermarks, available for a one-time fee of $1.99. StarCapture: Designed for capturing the night sky and light trails, StarCapture automatically sets parameters for astrophotography but allows manual adjustment if desired. It is completely free, without any ads or in-app purchases, making it a convenient option for night photography enthusiasts. Read more about the benefits of using manual camera apps to enhance your photography skills and architectural images for your portfolio and project reviews. - Airbnb CEO shares the best advice he's ever received—it's 'counterintuitive to almost everything everyone says’
A single piece of advice from an investor helped Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky grow his company from a struggling startup to an industry giant worth roughly $70 billion. < Back 0 Click here to log in and like Source: CNBC Updated: May 26, 2023 Airbnb CEO shares the best advice he's ever received—it's 'counterintuitive to almost everything everyone says’ A single piece of advice from an investor helped Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky grow his company from a struggling startup to an industry giant worth roughly $70 billion. In this article by Megan Sauer of CNBC, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky attributes the success of his company to advice from investor Paul Graham: "Focus on 100 people that love you, rather than getting a million people to kind of like you." This counterintuitive strategy helped Airbnb stand out by creating exceptional experiences for a small group of loyal customers, leading to rapid growth through word-of-mouth marketing. Chesky also believes that location is not crucial for success, as Airbnb remains based in San Francisco despite the exodus of tech companies from Silicon Valley. Chesky has embraced the idea of remote work, emphasizing the flexibility it offers. He criticized CEOs who called employees back to the office while they enjoyed personal vacations. This perspective aligns with Airbnb's concept of staying in someone else's home and reflects the changing attitudes toward remote work in the post-pandemic era.
